The causes and treatments for Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a type of illness which causes chronic pain in ligaments and muscles. This disorder is also known as fibromyositis, fibromyalgia syndrome, myofibrositis and fibrositis. It is a type of chronic disorder and it is characterized by the widespread of musculoskeletal pain, multiple tender points and fatigue. This also causes trouble while sleeping and make a person tired all the time. It occurs more in women than men.

some of the common causes include –

• Family history – if at all a parent or even a sibling has this disorder, then one will be at the risk of developing this disorder

• Having insomnia or any other sleeping disorders like that if sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome

• Muscle fatigue and pain are both symptoms that are very much seen in the people suffering from this disorder

• Feeling of soreness, aching, burning and pain all over the body

• Getting the feeling of tissues being swollen

• Pain in both knee and kneecap area

• Tingling, numbness and the feeling of cold both in hands and feet

• Irritation during urinary and bladder as well.

• One of the commonly found treatments is tricyclics, an antidepressant. This treatment is primarily used to reduce the muscle pain and sleeplessness

• Various forms of counseling, Cognitive-behavioral therapy and it also includes hypnotherapy as well.

• The Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, is used in some of the specific locations and it does not affect the overall functioning of muscle .

• In order to relax the muscle spasms, Flexeril, a muscle relaxor

• Dietary supplements, vitamins and many other herbal products are used

• Naproxen (Aleve), ibuprofen (Advil), aspirin and acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be used as these are the counter pain medications

• Stress reduction methods can be used to reduce the advancement of this disorder and it can include massage therapy, meditation, deep breathing and biofeedback.
